Pandemic

Pandemic

A pandemic is a worldwide spread of a virus. This typically happens when a virus infects animals, the animals infect people, and then the virus begins to spread directly between people. The 1918 flu pandemic targeted healthy young adults and killed about 100 million people. HIV originated in the 20th century and is now infecting about 40 million people worldwide. AIDS has killed more than 25 million people since it was discovered in 1981. Viruses like Ebola are too lethal and kill their hosts before spreading to everyone. Other viruses spread very fast but are cured before killing the host. It’s only a matter of time for a virus to get the right combination of both.
