Volcano

A super volcano is the most destructive thing Mother Nature can throw at us. It is defined as any volcano capable of producing a volcanic eruption thousands of times greater than a normal volcanic eruption. These eruptions are believed to have caused global mass extinction in the earth’s past. Super volcanoes occur when magma in the mantle rises into the crust from a hotspot but is unable to pierce the crust for a long period of time. The pressure builds into an ever growing magma pool until the crust eventually breaks. There are several spots like these all over the world with some that are still being discovered.

Before the eruption a lot of earthquakes leading to the biggest earthquake would have to occur to break the crust. If we’re lucky we might have weeks to prepare for this. Considering the super volcano that erupted 75,000 years ago killed about 90% of the human population, we can use all the warning we can get.
